My Review:

From what I can tell, this little Lansinoh Breast Pump surprised quite a few people. Because it is a manual breast pump, most figured it wouldn’t be able to deliver what an electric breast pump can, and although that is true to certain extent, most of the reviewers were totally shocked by how well it worked. In fact, 127 out of 142 reviewers rated it 4 to 5 stars, with the max being 5. That’s an 89% Customer Satisfaction RATING!! Now to be fair, you’re not going to be able to sit down with the Manual Lansinoh Breast Pump, pump for 10 minutes and be done. It’s going to take you at least 30 minutes to empty your breasts, maybe even longer. It’s not fast, but it is effective. Also, it’s a manual breast pump, therefore it can get tiresome after a while, but the ergonomic handle makes it easier, and much more comfortable then some.

Another nice feature is the limited amount of parts to clean and disassemble. In fact, the Manual Lansinoh Breast Pump is so easy to assemble, you might be able to do it in your sleep. There’s no tubing to worry about, no batteries or A/C adapter. Plus, all the parts on the Lansinoh Breast Pump are dishwasher safe, however, I would recommend hand-washing the valves and membrane, mainly because they’re so small and easy to lose.

The Manual Lansinoh Breast Pump is designed for occasional use only. It’s perfect for traveling, and great for emergencies, like your electric breast pump is dead and you forgot to buy batteries. I think it’s important for a breast feeding mom to always have a manual breast pump on hand, just in case. I would not recommend using it as your primary pump, especially if your little one is having trouble nursing. I fear that it would not be able to completely empty your breasts, and this could result in a lower milk supply. Some women can pull this off, as you’ll see below in the customer feedback section, but if you’re having any trouble with your milk supply, or you have in the past, I wouldn’t depend on a manual breast pump. If you’re looking for a breast pump that can handle that kind of use, I would definitely recommend a single or double electric breast pump.

With that said, I think that the Manual Lansinoh Breast Pump is a great choice! It’s inexpensive, and as long as you take care of it, and don’t over-use it, it will last you for a very long time. Check out what a few of the customers had to say about their Manual Lansinoh Breast Pump below.

Customer Feedback:

Must Have, February 1, 2009

By E. Anderson, (Carmel, IN USA)

After exclusively pumping and bottle-feeding for 8 weeks with a hospital pump, I returned to nursing my daughter and needed a simple pump to take care of engorgement issues. I ordered the Lansinoh Double Electric Pump along with this manual breast pump with the plans of trying the manual to see if it works before opening and using the electric breast pump. Well, the Manual Lansinoh Breast Pump worked just as good as the hospital grade pump. I was able to pump 5 oz. in 10-15 minutes. I have, however, always been really successful at pumping. I was really reluctant to try a manual breast pump because the lactation specialist at the hospital referred to them as “Torture Devices”, so I figured they were really painful. Not true with this one. I found the $1000 hospital pump more painful at times than this pump. Furthermore, having a manual breast pump was so liberating after sitting in the same place in the house for 2 months 7 times a day 15 minutes a pop. With the Manual Lansinoh Breast Pump, you can pump while doing chores around the house, in the car on long trips, in the ladies’ room at the mall, etc. It’s quiet – mine occasionally squeaks but it’s NOTHING compared to the loud drone of electric pumps, it’s light-weight, and the pump handle resistance is easy. I recommended this pump to a friend who loves hers just as much as I do. You won’t be disappointed.
