Lansinoh Affinity Double Electric Breast Pump
If you’re on the hunt for the best double electric breast pump, chances are you’ll find yourself studying the features on the Medela Pump-In-Style Advanced Double Breast Pump. Of course, Medela Breast Pumps are top of the line, but what makes them so special, and how do they compare to say the Lansinoh Affinity Double Breast Pump, which happens to be about half the price?
At first I thought it would be a difference in vacuum strength, but after looking a bit closer I realized that they both offer the same strength range, 50 – 250 mm HG in 1 second. So, that got me thinking. What else do they have in common? Both the Medela Pump-In-Style and the Lansinoh Breast Pump also offer two phases, the stimulation phase, and the expression phase. Both double breast pumps also offer a one-touch let down button that automatically switches you to the expression phase after 2 minutes of stimulation, and also gives the ability to switch back and forth between phases to elicit additional let-downs. Both the Medela Pump-In-Style and the Lansinoh Breast Pump also offer dual adjust, in other words they both have a single knob that adjusts both the speed and vacuum control, aka cycle and suction. Both double breast pumps are easy to use, come with an AC adapter and are battery operational, offers 100% BPA free parts, and both double breast pumps are easy to clean.
Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump – Backpack
Okay, so what’s the difference? Well first of all, the Medela Pump In Style offers two 24 mm PersonalFit breast shields, whereas the Lansinoh Breast Pump offers two ComfortFit Breast Flanges that are basically one size fits all. With the Medela Breast Pump you have different options for sizes of breast shields, whereas the Lansinoh Breast Pump has only one. The problem with this is, if your breast shield or flange is too small, this can affect your milk output, possibly even lowering your milk supply over time. Another difference is that the Medela Pump In Style comes with the option of either a backpack, on-the-go tote, shoulder bag, or metro bag. The Pump itself is actually attached to the bag, making it more portable and discreet. Unless you choose the Medela Pump In Style with Metro Bag, where the pump has its own little carrying case separate from the large storage bag. Also, the Medela Pump In Style breast pump offers a removable cooler bag with a contoured ice pack, 2 extra bottles with lids, as well as extra parts for replacement.
Lansinoh Affinity Double Electric Breast Pump
Now the Lansinoh Breast Pump does come with lids, built-in bottles holders, and an extra part, but that’s pretty much it. One nice feature that I have to mention is that because of the design, Lansinoh guarantees no milk backup in the tubing or pump.
As far as reviews go, both double breast pumps did really well. Out of all the options, the Medela Pump In Style had more reviews, but both had about the same customer satisfaction ratings. So in the end, the Medela Pump In Style Double Breast Pump costs more, but you also get the nifty tote, backpack, or shoulder bag, the removable cooler for breast milk storage, the extra bottles, and the extra parts. On the other side of the fence, the Lansinoh Affinity Double Breast Pump is half the price, functions about the same, and guarantees no milk backup in the tubing or pump, which makes for extra easy cleaning.
Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump – Metro Bag
